Bury 2's 53- 3 Oldham 3's

Bury 2's were clinical on Saturday against an Oldham 3's side that has struggled to win games this season their only victory coming in a cup match against fellow strugglers Ashton On Mersey the week before. The mighty Bury 2's came into the game after a two week rest and the blend of youth and experience were dominant throughout the 80 mins in a win that lifted them out of the bottom 4.

Right from the kick off Bury asserted their dominance latching onto a mistake from the Oldham defence the forwards moved the ball all the way to the Oldham try line with the young Robbie Stott going over vthe line only for it to be judged as a forward pass. From the resulting scrummage Bury moved the ball to the right and then back to the left where the overlap was obvious with Winger Craig Boardman taking a pass from the other Stott brother Callum to go over the line for his first of the game with no one opposing him.

The game then opened up a little with Oldham forcing some rare mistakes from Bury and a period of possession changing hands with little results and a few peanalties against Bury. With Bury securing ball and possession back the ball was being used to good effect stretching Oldham to both wings with Boardman going over the line twice only for both efforts to be judged as dropped whilst going over(story of the afternoon for Bury) However he was to taste glory again with a bold long miss pass from inside centre Adam Lawton reaching Boardman who stepped inside and the stepped round the Oldham defence running half the pitch to go over for his 2nd of the afternoon.

With Oldham trying to force their way up the pitch kicking over the Bury defence only for Full Back Paul McGharrity to be opening them up with some darting runs and resulting in Outside centre Chris lynch going over the line to be judged as being held up. Enter the dominance of the Bury pack driving Oldham backwards and Scrum Half Paul Kyle to go over the line under the posts for Will Smith at 10 to convert easily. Lynch would again see the line twice and go over it to be adjuged as not being over the line before eventually at the 3rd attempt being allowed after several darting runs bullying his way through the Oldham defence and he would repeat that again 2 mibns later for his 2nd of the game. Answered only by an Oldham Penalty from just outside the Bury 22 bringing Oldham their only points for the Afternoon.

The 2nd half would see Bury dominant with Oldham barely getting out of their own half but for a few line outs resulting in them trying to kick their way down the pitch only for Bury to win all the lineouts with Allan Dobson commanding and No.8 and Man of the Match Robbies Stott out jumping Oldham every time. Eventually the Bury dominance would pay off with the scrum again driving all the way over the line for Paul Kyle to just have to pick and put the ball down again for his 2nd of the game.

This would be followed again from the Bury pack driving a Maul forwards with Matthew Speake breaking away and Passing to substitute Ben Holland to go under the posts duley converted by Smith. Thi would then be followed by a great break from the backs busrting through using the over lap for Toby Murphy to go over the line with Smith again converting. Bury then saving the best till last spreading the ball wide and then Murphy breaking free to pass to Gary Chester to go under the posts with the conversion again from Smith the last Kick of the game
