Junior Colts’ Training Week

Week commencing Monday 1st July. Full details TBC, but it will be a fun and informative week of all things rugby, including practical and theoretical sessions, refereeing, nutritional advice, etc. KEEP YOUR DIARY FREE!

Fundraising

On Saturday 13th July some of the seniors are having a sponsored cycle ride from Liverpool to the club. The aim is to raise funds to help pay for a senior club coach. There will be a BBQ in the afternoon and the idea is for the junior sides to have their own sponsored events on the same day. Unfortunately, neither Sam nor I am available on that day, but we will be doing our own sponsored “thing” on another day. I was thinking something along the lines of a sponsored “gym test” à la “Superstars” (i.e. how many press-ups/shuttle runs/squat thrusts, etc in a minute) or something.

However, I am open to suggestions if anybody has any bright ideas…

Squad Numbers

I cannot stress enough that our current squad numbers are borderline, at best, and we could do with recruiting another handful of players. Do you know anybody who is up to the task? Do you still bump into any past players? Get into them. Ask them if they fancy playing again. Invite them to the training week (I will need to know numbers, though, for catering, and, depending on numbers, might need to ask for a nominal contribution from non-club members).

Club Developments

As you will have heard we were successful in obtaining some “Olympic Legacy” lottery funding of £50,000, with which the club is planning on improving the facilities – more floodlights; improved drainage; changing room and clubhouse improvements; pitchside barriers/advertising.

Monthly Subs

Next season the on-going monthly subs are going to collected centrally, by Standing Order. This will be more efficient and will help towards funding winter training facilities.
