Match report by Alan Dobson

Still searching for their first win of the league season Bury entertained Ormskirk at Radcliffe Road on Saturday. Bury had high hopes of turning their poor early season form around and were desperately looking for a win. Conditions were difficult but playable, as the ground was soft and the rain continued to fall.
It was the visitors who adapted to the conditions well right from the off as Bury were struggling to become accustomed to them at all. Ormskirk had arrived ready for a game and were quicker out of the blocks.
Early pressure on the home side told ten minutes in to the game as some poor man to man tackling led to a break through the middle and Ormskirk ran in their first try of the game to break the deadlock. The visitors continued to pressure the Bury pack in the tight and forced a penalty to extend their lead.
The away side had arrived at Radcliffe Road with a game plan and looked to stick to that throughout. They continued, when in possession, to run the ball short and keep the ball with their sizeable forwards, then kicking tactically to gain territory. They put pressure on the Bury set piece and started to exert domination in the scrum.
Injuries to Ed Watkins and Alex English led to a reshuffle which disrupted the slight rhythm Bury had started to gain. When Bury did manage to get clean ball, and look to go wide at times they looked dangerous, Dom Bennett coming in off his wing to make some decent breaks.
Bury were 10-0 down at the turn around and felt like they could get back into the game by shifting the ball out of the forwards something they had struggled to achieve thus far. Ormsirk, however, extended their lead and controlled the game throughout the second half. This included a pushover try, as they really started to dominate in the tight and the game ended 22-0.
Next week the Rams will be at home to Orrell, and will be desperate to end this run of bad games, put this period behind them and gain some foothold in the league.
