After back to back wins on the road, Bury were looking to continue their good form on their visit to Old Bedians. After many disappointing encounters there in recent years Bury were aware that this would be a stern challenge and were ecstatic to leave with a 19-30 bonus point victory.
In the opening five minutes of the game Bury were to start slowly and after receiving the kick off were put under considerable pressure. This led to the team conceding a soft try, with the Old Bedians full back scoring in the corner and taking an early 7-0 lead.
With their die hard spirit, Bury were to respond almost immediately and following a great platform in the set piece leading to a penalty in the centre of the field. Fly half Adam Heath was able to convert the points with ease and reduce the home side's lead. Not content with this, from the kick off Bury were on the attack again and with the ball being moved from scrum half Dan Fluffy-Palmieri to inside centre Liam Hampson and then George Kelly before finding winger Sam Ware, who scored under the posts, taking the score to 7-10 to the visitors.
The next score of the game came from the boot of Heath, again a penalty, following a large amount of pressure from the Bury pack being led by Christopher Potts, James Swinburn and Jake Greenhalgh.
Old Bedians were to rally again just before half time and a period of pressure saw their inside centre score under the posts. This left the home side with a slender lead of 14-13 going into the half time break.
The second half saw Bury kick off and explode into life. Great work by Jordan Miller on the ground saw Bury turn over the ball. Ed Watkins was at hand to crash the ball up before finding back row Christopher Potts to score a well-deserved try.
This was quickly followed up with another try, great vision from Declan Hampson and Alex English, allowed the ball to be freed up in the mid-field before a fantastic pass from second row Wayne Elloway arrowed out wide to winger Sam Ware who in turn found Callum Paton with a kick through. Callum Paton was to finish off a slick move and secure the much needed bonus point.
With a 30-14 point lead, Bury were to be pinned back in their own half for the final twenty minutes of the match. Sterling work from the forwards and backs together reduced Old Bedians to a single unconverted try to leave the final score at 19-30.
Bury will face Pendle next week at Radcliffe Road, kick off at 2:15pm.
