After a well fought win against fellow promotion rivals, Bury took to the road in rather dangerous condition to face Hutton.

On arrival in Preston the weather was far from the conditions witnessed back at home and although the ground was soft the playing conditions were ideal.

In the opening twenty minutes neither side could get a dominant footing in the game, until a speculative, lofted pass across the Bury back line was intercepted by an oncoming Hutton centre ,who strolled under the posts unchallenged. The conversion was missed.

Bury rallied back in their usual fashion and when Ed Watkins broke away with only the full back to beat and George Kelly in support Bury would have thought the fightback would be on, however a great tackle and late switch move being mis-read resulted in nothing more than a brief territorial advantage.

The rest of the half was played out in the same vein as the opening twenty minutes with little action of any real notice.

The second half started with Bury chasing the game and 5-0 down. From the kick-off Chris Potts juggled the ball twice before gathering it neatly and being chopped down on the Hutton five metre line. Bury continued to push on, but an infringement from Rob Plant reduced Bury to fourteen men for ten minutes and tipped the balance back in favour of the home side. In this period Hutton were able to score a penalty and increase their lead to eight.

As Bury continued to press on to gain something from the game, substitutes Jordan Miller, Alan Dobson and Alex English were brought into the fray. With an immediate impact, Bury forced their way forward into the opposition twenty-two metres, but were a able to penetrate a well organised defence. With ten minutes remaining Bury pressed on and were again to be hit on the break with Hutton breaking away down the left wing and scoring under the posts. This was to be converted and left Bury with a 15-0 defeat, the biggest loss of their season so far.

Bury must now re-group and push on in their bid for promotion. Their next game is in two weeks at home to Mossley Hill on Saturday 31st January at 2:15pm kick-off.
