When we see this scoreline it normally means the winning team won convincingly, but in this case that statement was far from wrong.

Bury u16s travelled to glossop on Sunday morning after horrible wet weekend with the rain clearing by 10 o'clock and to find the pitch being made playable by the ground staff at glossop. Know it was going to be a day when the ball would be like a bar of soap the lads still was nevertheless ready for would turn out to be a thrilling game of rugby. Kick off came on the whistle of the ref and immediately bury was on the front foot, controlling the contact around the breakdown and slowing push glossop in to there own half playing some nice structured rugby. How ever glossop stuck first when turning the ball over and brushing off a few missed tackles. The wasn't converted meaning only a 5 - 0 lead and this seemed to put an extra spring in the step of the bury lads as once more they started to control the game off the back of the set piece which may I add , with credit from the glossop coaching staff , showed the opposition pack a lesson for the whole 70 mins in scrums and line out repeatingly dominating . With glossop doing well to defend burys pick and go game, a break through came when bury had pinned glossop on the own try line for prop Cam cope to score over the line levelling the score at 5 - 5 a piece As bury was in able to convert. After previous weeks of performance improvement from bury It began to look like they had the wind in their sails as again a battle of control was edging there way, until the glossop backs show a glimpse of life with a couple of very good moves got themselves into the bury 22 zone. Bury was doing there up most best tackling like Trojans to keep glosp out and see out to half time with not long left of the half to go when a opportunity to turn the ball over arised but went straight off there feet at the ruck resulting in a penalty to glossop more or less under the the bury sticks. Glossop converting the penalty to put them 3 points ahead at 8 - 5 with 2 mins to go from half time bury kicked back off and reacted in good fashion as we turned the ball over and put glossops back three under pressure with a kicked to the corner from the bury flyhalf which caused the glossop winger to knock the ball on 15 metres out from there own try line. With last play of the half called the scrum was played and it was now to up to bury to see if they could get a score, but a knock on the bury centres brought an end to a half of rugby that bury should be proud of !
The second half loomed and with a rally talk by the bury coaches the seem to be fire up to chase after their first win of the season ! Kicking off the second with a good couple of minutes in defensive glossop turn the ball over and started to get in to Ryhme of working the ball from one side of the pitch to the other stretching the bury defence which looked to have taken the foot off the gas . Again, the glossop backs put together some great ball handling skills and moves , which looked to have been brought straight off the training field, earnt themselves three quick back to back trys all though one, had Nigel Owen had been refereeing would of refered to the television match official ( which we unfortunately don't have the pleasure of the facility ) and would of been resulted in a knock on . However the score was 25 - 5 and bury look like they had started to play to the same level as the first half display they had put on! Putting pressure on glossops set piece and starting the control the game once more. With a line out on half way being there next real chance when James Benson rose in the air from the front to put pressure on the glossop jumper getting a knock down the hooker Wah Tun who showed a great turn of pace down the touch line to score, but to be disallowed as the ref of which apologized to the players for not playing an advantage . Resulting in a bury scrum on the half way. The tension between the two side started to build once more as this very even contest started to get even more interesting. Bury start to get some Big line break in the likes of Abbas haque , Oliver rostron and Rhys Lucas . Also to big tackles was now being made in which result in one of the glossop players having to leave pitch after blindside flanker Oliver rostron had lined him up true and proper for text book style tackle that knock the wind right out off him. But shortly after the glossop back line , may I add with plenty of fresh legs as it looked like they had number to field to teams never mind the one, but is a great sight to see so many, put another try over the line as they turned the ball over from some sloppy ball presentation from bury to get the ball out to the winger who had what it looked like an easy finish in the corner made difficult buy bury then winger Ben stammer who almost managed to drag him into touch. Which 10 mins left on the clock bury was both finished and came back looking stronger than ever getting that pick and go game going and using some good running line from the the centre to out them into scoring position! Slow balk came from a scrum deep in the glossop half but bury made this into the quick balk with the ball going through more or less every forwards set of hands in a very hard efficient intensity at the break down and wasn't allowing the glossop line to get set for any tackles allow young james Benson a try for himself right at the death of the game which George Jackson then easily put over the sticks to convert!
Resulting in the end result of 30 - 12 to glossop !

From the bury perspective this was bug step forward despite defeat to the hands of what would be the best team they had played so far this season and with credit to all the glossop coaching staff we do look to enjoy a return visit from them to bury at some point in the season .
The glossop lad glad chose 2 man of the matches for us in the shaped of Alfie Marshall and James Benson who both had tremendous games asking side all of the bury players who played out of their skins ! Special mention to Flynn Bentley who at scrum half had made a massive improvement in his wing his forwards around the ruck from recent weeks and also to Adam hinchcliffe who was complimented by the glossop coaching staff for his impressive display in the scrum !
Also would like to thank everyone at glossop for the hospitality given post match and also for taking in part for the blackcurrant pint men of the match boat race which has now become a tradition for bury at home and away games post match and our lad came out on top in that match up which was both james Benson and Alfie Marshall who took on the glossop 4 and 7 who also had tremendous games
And last but not least we would like to thank the support of the parents for coming out of on a Sunday to watch we are sure you would agree also as what was a very entertaining game of rugby !
