Under 13’s unaffected by Festive break

After 4 weeks of no rugby over the festive period, their was an air of trepidation as we headed off on the short journey to Littleborough for our Blacksticks Round 6 fixture.

This sense of foreboding was heightened by the fact that it was a real ‘pea souper’,(like those we used to have back in the early 70’s), and surely if the game did go ahead we would be lucky to see 10 yards in front of us.

However trepidation was unfounded and the fog had not made it’s march up the M62 so the game was not in doubt.

The lads acquitted themselves extremely well against a well organised Littleborough side and on another day the scores could have been much closer. There are certainly things that can be built on and if we can keep everybody happy, this team can develop into a decent outfit.
Highlights were some superb clearing out at the rucks,(Ben, Jordan and Dan well done lads) and some text book tackles from Tom Gomez, Tom Rowe and Skippy.
Lowlights were that we still have a tendancy to chase the ball, leaving gaps and overlaps, (positional discipline), for the opposition to exploit and some of our tackling is still too high. However nothing major so well done to all.

Scorers
Morgan Swift – Try
Thomas Hopper – Try and a Conversion

Men of the Match
Ben Jackson for excellent second half forward display
Dan Gallagher for listening and putting into practice what he has been coached
