Lancashire Blacksticks Blue Junior Challenge

On this lovely early October morning we had the pleasure of hosting West Park RUFC in the first round of the Lancashire Cup pool. This was our first proper game of the season and we were looking forward to playing a team we had never played before, hopefully it won’t be long before we play them again. What an excellent bunch of coaches and parents West Park are, with the players playing a lovely brand of Rugby.
For a nice change we were the bigger sized team, especially in the forwards, this in time made a difference with many of the forwards going on bullocking runs through the West Park defence. Throughout the game it was an even contest with Bury just edging it in the end, some great runs from our outside centre Ellis.
This turned out to be a well-supported game that all that watched enjoyed with both teams looking to pass the ball out. With all the players there getting plenty of game time and all enjoying themselves.

Dominic has been nominated the Captain for the next several games and showed great leadership.
