An ode to a lost friend - the little red rust bucket. PS: Last 4 games. 64 tries scored, 4 conceded.

Team: James (Captain) Adam, Alfie, Cameron C, Connor, Evan, Flynn, Harry, Jamie, Josh.

Althouh the final score was pretty emphatic praise must go to a Bolton side who never stopped trying and it was great to see them still making tackles in the last quarter and continually trying to keep the ball alive with good offloading, excellent passing and ripping the ball from the Bury boys. Unfortunately for them most of their best passing was done over their try line as Bury continually kept them under pressure.

We played 4 quarters in what was our first home game of the season. Things will obviously change next season when the Bard (or Norman Wisdom - nice cap) takes the reins for next season.

James was Captain for the day and started proceedings. Bury were quickly moving through the gears winning the first quarter 5 tries to 1. James again excelled with some try saving tackles, two particularly on the wing and then scoring one himslef late on in the game. Alfie and Cameron C in stereo had very strong powerful games and never took their feet off the pedal. Alfie seemed to be everywhere. They constantly knocked down any Bolton challenges. Connor was very fluid in his running scoring two tries and nearly a third as he hurtled forward full throttle towards the tryline but was crunched into touch inches away. When he puts his foot on the gas he can't half shift.

Evan was as powerful as ever scoring 8 tries and impressed particularly as he is now releasing the ball in the tackle to oncoming support. Jamie linked up well with Evan and had a quietly effective game, doing the simple things well and is becoming an excellent distributor of the ball to the marauding backs and crash forwards. Another two tries one wheeling away from the blindside of the scrum which is becoming his trademark, before a bumper to the head cut short his game.

Harry had his best game to date driving and pumping his legs in the tackle and supporting the maul. He is the image of a young Jean Pierre Rives. Flynn had a great run in the third quarter and just needs to straighten up his running when hitting the accelerator and more tries will come. Josh never lost focus and as it was only his second game of the season will get stronger as the season progresses.

MOM was Adam who was like a juggernaut powering through the Bolton defence to score his first try of the season. His confidence will grow now and he has all the attributes to be a very very good rugby player.

Bury were like a well oiled machine. We have come a long way since the start of the season and next weeks game v Leigh will be a good indicator of how we have improved since we lost our only game in a mirror of the fixture there back in September. I am sure we can reverse the scoreline and turn the heat up on them.

The game was played in an excellent spirit and we all headed back to the clubhouse for a top up of anti-freeze.

Score 17 - 1 to Bury
Tries: Evan 8, Alfie 2, Jamie 2, Connor 2, James 1, Cameron C 1, Adam 1.
