At Last after all that training ....a match!!!!

Well after what seems months and months of training we finally had a match and thanks to the Under 10's for letting us play against them under our rules i.e.non contested scrums and lineouts and also for letting us have 2 of their players. Also thanks to Dave for refereeing. That's the pleasantries out of the way........now the match and what a match!!

The coiled spring was unleashed. The team of Alfie (Captain for the day), Josh, Cameron M, Cameron C, Connor, James & Jamie plus two boys from the under 10's set about the match like hungry lions. Tries from Alfie, James and Crazy Legs Connor in the first half saw the 9's dominate the first half. I will promise to pay more attention in future and produce a more detailed match report but I am afraid I was just too excited and enthralled by it all. The second half was a much tougher encounter with the 10's getting into their stride with their bigger forwards using their power and CJ putting pressure on our scrum half at the scrums. Nevertheless our boys never flinched or took a back step and kept powering forward, Cameron C capping a fine performance with a final try ripped from the 10's forward to bulldozer over the try line with three under 10's on his back. Immense!

We have the benefit of having such a team of talented individuals who work for each other as a team and each have a great combination of skills. Power, pace, side steps, tackling ability and hunger. (And that doesn't mean Cameron having a bacon butty at half time).

Connor - amazing running, pace and weaving in and out. He is going to be a thorne in the side of the opposition. Get it thorn.......oh well.!!
Josh - great support play and pushing that maul. Josh got into some great supporting positions and once he gets more of the ball, with his pace and running he will be a great asset to this team.
Cameron M - a natural talent who will just keep getting better and better.
Alfie - wonderful tackling today and powerful runs. A natural leader constantly keeping his side moving forward.
James - an outstanding performance. If we had a most improved player from training to today's match performance it will be James. Getting stuck in, ripping the ball, great support play and a well deserved try.
Jamie - some great runs setting up his team in attacking positions. Also very impressed with his tackling today but more so in his organisation of his backs. A very proud dad.
Cameron C - Awesome power. Can anyone stop this boy?

We play Kirkby Lonsdale at home next week. Can we top this, with Harry, Evan, Adam, Flynn, Logan and Abbas to come in...........you bet we can!
