We knew it was going to be tough and so it proved.

Team: Connor (Captain), Abbas, Adam, Alfie, Cameron M, Evan, Flynn, Harry, Jamie, James and Josh.
As this was our first game of contact against another under 9's team and with us being away from home we thought the boys played really well, particularly in the 2nd half.
I think we all learned a lot from this match which we will take on board and bring into future training sessions.
Leigh started really well with a well organised defence and taking advantage of any breakdown pouring their players over the ball to secure possession. This is an area which we as a team need to work on in matching the opposition and using our power and strength.
Leigh quickly went 2-0 up but then we started to find our feet and matched them head to head in the middle of the park. I am going to concentrate more on the 2nd half as this is where we did our best work. Abbas improved considerably and used his power to drive forward and tackled much better. Adam took a knock but still went on a couple of good runs. Unfortunately Alfie suffered a sprained ankle and had to leave the pitch but was very impressive again. He was quite unfortunate in constantly being tackled without the ball but he never stopped trying. Cameron again tried to find openings and nearly got through a well drilled defense. He never shirked a tackle but watch the trips...hee hee. Flynn also got stuck in and had a great run near the end of the match. Harry was also in the wars but was always in the maul and helping his team mates. Jamie scored a fantastic near length of the pitch try running from on the blind side of the scrum. Great tackling and always put pressure on the Leigh attack. James had another great game. He is proving to be a little diamond, always eager and always involved. Josh also was at the breakdown trying to feed of whatever scraps we had.he was mauling very well. Captain Connor never stopped trying and had some great runs but just couldn't find the space he needed to get through. His tackling really improved in the 2nd half. Man of the match however was Evan who put in a proper shift. Really strong running and great power tackling. Like Jamie he was constantly in the faces of the Leigh opposition creating mayhem in their ranks. He got us right back in the match with a defence splitting powerful run and try. Excellent, well done.

A good performance boys. Next up Vale of Lune away.
