Sunday 12th December

Sunday 12th December we had an away match verses Bowdon.
With the pitch being very frosty, we had a long discuss with the Bowdon coaches and decided that it was safe to play, but we would monitor the game very closely.
Bury had 12 players available, with Ben starting as Captain, Joe, William and Bradley as subs. We had decided beforehand, to try to encourage the kids to start rucking more, that the player who rucked the best would win the MoM award. (this back-fired a little, as I will explain later)
Bowdon start really well and score four tries in the first half to no reply from Bury, we did start to improve as the first half wore on, some good play from Hayden at scrum-half, the players starting to get more into the contact side of the game as time progressed, but this continued to be an issue as the game wore on.
After a strong talking to Bury improved a lot in the 2nd half, from the kick-off William scored a good try and the general play improved some what, Bowdon continued to threaten our try line, but with some great tackling from the whole team especially Mark & William, Bury kept the score line down. Bowdon scored a further 2 tries in this half with no more from Bury.
As I mentioned earlier that the player who rucked the best would win the MoM award, well we were unable to do this as none of the players showed any desire to ruck throughout the whole game (we must continue to work on this), as a result of this the award was given to William for his ferocious tackling.
