Sedgley 65 – 25 Bury
Players available: - Oscar, Nick, Dominic, Max, Will, Mickey, Zack, Adam, Ben, Jake, Joel, Bradley, Callum and Andrew.
Captain was Adam.
The morning started off wet, miserable and very muddy but soon brightened up – much to the parents delight !!!!
The boys played 2 matches
Match 1 Sedgley 35 – 10 Bury
Match 2 Sedgley 30 – 15 Bury
The boys stated off slowly with some poor defending and tackling and soon became disheartened when Sedgley started scoring try’s in fast succession.
After the first half Phil gathered them together for a team talk ! Whatever he said worked because the boys upped their game resulting in drawing the second half.. Both Oscar and Mikey scored try’s.
The boys continued to play well. Oscar scored the try for Bury in the first match. Will scored both the try’s in the last match.
There were some excellent runs by all the players but especially by Oscar and Will who were both determined to drive through the opposition and score the much needed try’s.
The team are showing improvement in their play. They are starting to work together in their driving and tackling but sometimes don’t pass enough which results in them loosing the ball. (This maybe just be a parents point of view !!!!)
MoM went to Andrew in his first ever game for he U9’s – Well Done !!
Coaches Note
I was really pleased with the boys effort, but they must realise that they need to keep possession of the ball when they have it and not give it away so easily in the tackle.
Next week we have an away match against Marple RUFC
